ONE KEY WORD: BALANCE
At the very core of the 5 Lasserre experiences, is a governing principle that weaves its way into everything we strive to offer our guests. In a word, it’s Balance. Periods of extreme sight seeing can be juxtaposed with moments of sheer relaxation. A rigorous morning visit of one or more vineyards, can be followed by a lazy afternoon in solitude, drinking wine with one's sweet other half or among old and new friends with some cool, jazzy, chill or classical music playing in the background.
Kindly scroll down to view our in house &off-site activities.
UP YOU PADDLE
Bike trails are plentiful: the biking path network includes multiple kilometres of exciting and exhilarating routes, some down by the Dordogne river at the bottom of the valley, some high up closer to the peaks.
From the saddle of our bikes, you’ll find secrets beyond your walking limits. Pedal slowly, you’ve got all day and the bikes are free.
CONNECT WITH NATURE
Lace up your boots or walking sneakers and wander off along the scenic vineyards. Nature Trails are possible at any time of day and throughout the seasons.
Sunrise & sunset time is a particular favourite walk for our guests. Night brings starry skies and the sound of owls calling.
STAY IN FOCUS
5 Lasserre offers a photo-op around every corner. Once you have filled two memory cards with photos of our valley resting under the mist at sunrise, make sure you leave enough space for the equally enchanting sunset capture.
Here, at 5 Lasserre, wonder has no end. At the day's end, a whole new canvas emerges after dark, as the sky fills with a billion stars.
Just outside our door, the energy of the horizon captivates. Let the grand perspective of our view capture you for a moment, listen to the gentle lapping of water in our signature panoramic infinity pool and breathe in the pure air.
Let yourself drift away, whether in a meditative mode or simply napping within nature's calming sounds.

THOSE PRECIOUS ME MOMENTS
Thanks giving, appreciation, humility, wonder and praise. These attitudes, or approach to life, all form part of the natural contemplation; the quiet reflection of our most immediate surroundings.
5 Lasserre has certainly plenty of such moments to offer. All throughout our property, thoughtfully conceived sitting areas provide a calm, soothing setting to disconnect & reflect on the things that are most important to all of us.
“What Is Love? I have met in the streets a very poor young man who was in love. His hat was old, his coat worn, the water passed through his shoes and the stars through his soul” .-
Victor Hugo, Les Misérables
THE OFF-SITE ACTIVITIES
YEARNING TO EXPERIENCE IT ALL ...
Bordeaux's most famous wine region and its environs offer something for every mind and mood. Not that you’re ever going to want to leave us, but in the rare case you must…we have highlighted some of the must-see iconic spots that we love.
And if you need a bit of help making your stay with us and your discovery of our beautiful county a bit more enduring, feel free to contact us to personalise your experience and benefit from our local know-how before arrival; first hand suggestions, recommendations, itineraries & tips only the locals would know and that will procure our guests that unique shift from the prescriptive to the privileged.
SAINT - EMILION
QUAINT LITTLE FRENCH VILLAGE TO ROAM
When in 5 Lasserre, a visit to Saint-Emilion becomes indeed a must. A visit (best to avoid heels, let it be said we warned you) to this picturesque village sitting on top of a limestone rock, shall bring you back to a long forgotten era.
Surrounded by a multitude of vineyards, its main tourist attraction is meandering around soaking in all its beauty & quintessential French charm.
WINE TASTING HEAVEN FOR CERTAIN
We have no idea what heaven entails but we like to think that it probably must have the finest wines in the world, which means there will be a bounty from Saint-Émilion, celebrated as one of the best wines in the world for hundreds of years. Designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1999, Saint-Émilion vineyards, terroir, know how, its people and history have very much deserved its world wide recognised status! You simply can’t go to Saint- Émilion and neglect to visit (and sip) at least one vineyard!
ART IS WINE | WINE IS ART
From grape to glass, the life of wine is one of rich, careful design. In some cases, this rich design can be found in the architecture of modern wineries, the design of their cellars and or in the artful private collections contained within their properties.
The discipline of winery architecture has yielded some of the most incredible avant-garde buildings standing around as close as just a simple mere 15 minutes drive.
OUR OWN LITTLE FRENCH TUSCANY
Entre-Deux-Mers is one of the 6 wine-making regions of the Bordeaux vineyard and the largest by far. Situated just south-east of the city of Bordeaux, it takes its lovely name “Entre-Deux-Mers” – translated as “between two seas” – referring as such to the two rivers, the Garonne and Dordogne, that help form the boundaries of the region
Unlike the rest of the Bordelais, our region is a unique country of rolling hills, small valleys or combes, meadows and forests crisscrossed by a multitude of brooks and rivers. Vineyards grow left and right, up & down - its landscape and scenery is often compared to the Italian Tuscany due to its close resemblance.
THE DORDOGNE RIVER
BIOSPHERE RESERVE TO DISCOVER AT OUR FOODSTEPS
The Dordogne river flows calmly over nearly 490km. A true haven of peace and an inspiration for walkers, it is a refuge for lovers of nature & beautiful patrimony sites.
For all these reasons, the Dordogne river basin was included in the World Network of Biosphere Reserves in 2012, a group of 661 exceptional sites over five continents.
This classification also brings new objectives: protecting the biological diversity, promoting economic development and safeguarding the cultural values associated with it. Close to us, numerous activities are on offer: hiking, canoeing, fishing, biking & even river surfing alongside the exceptional ports and villages. You only have to choose!
TRY BEING AN EXPLORER OF THE PAST
Bordeaux’s vineyard and the Entre-Deux-Mers county contributes to making Nouvelle-Aquitaine the French region with the most UNESCO sites (7 sites and groups of sites) throughout..
Pick the best sights and create your daily travel itinerary. Drive or wander upriver in the Dordogne for magnificent hillside views and places full of history. Marvel our rich geological & historical heritage in its Roman churches, bastides, charming villages, fortified windmills, chapels and abbeys.
Close to our property for instance, the Abbey de la Sauve Majeure stands majestically. A short drive of 15 minutes will get you to your destination where you'll be conquered by an overwhelming sense of monastic beauty and peace, that is our promise to you!
THE OPEN ROAD
SLOW DOWN & DROP DOWN ONE GEAR
When it comes to relaxing holidays, there’s no better way than to spend it surrounded by vineyards in one of the most bucolic & slow life loving regions of France.
One: you have the perfect micro weather that helps create the perfect grapes. Two: these grapes create amazing wine that inspires delicious food. And three: this makes everyone giddy happy and friendly! But too much of a good thing can be oh-so-wonderful, so we add one more ingredient to this perfect holiday recipe: the open road featuring those in awe magnificent open sky vineyard landscapes. Yet, remember, drink in moderation or else you'll be missing it out alltogether!
MINGLE WITH THE LOCALS
It’s like a mantra for travelers these days: do what the locals do. In short, ditch the travel guide for a moment & join the locals at the farmer's market one of the mornings, learn more from a local bio-dynamic producing farm, attend one of the many music & folk festivals, share drinks at the local's sunset hours hanging spot.
In a nutshell; immerse yourself in the local's life pleasures, seek meaningful encounters & get away with weight-carrying singular experiences.
THOSE LITTLE EXTRAS
EXCITEMENT MAKES AN ENTRY
Life is all about those little extras that you do not expect, surprise us or might have become even an enjoyable habit throughout your former travels.
Experience our beautiful county state from a bird's eye view at morning dawn on a hot air ballon, helicopter or glider. Golf or ride a horse, and this in a unique setting among vineyards, meadows and forests, torrents and rivers. Special knowledge or experience in certain sports is not required. All it takes is the desire to experience something.
BORDEAUX - PORT DE LA LUNE
WORLD's NEWEST FRENCH DARLING
There are plenty of reasons to visit the beautiful city of Bordeaux – arguably number one is for the wine – but don’t just take our word for it! She used to be called «the sleeping beauty» but has since awaken well and truly.
In all seasons, cafes bloom, restaurants flourish and new cool shops & hip places sprout like mushrooms. Bordeaux is now beautiful, natural, even a bit rebel with a wild spirit... though still classy thanks to the unity of its urban and architectural expression, both classical and neoclassical and which has remain unchanged stylistically over the last two centuries. Designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2007 & part of the French pilgrimage Routes of Santiago de Compostela, Bordeaux has certainly become world's French newest darling.
MICHELIN STARS & BISTROS
FOODIES LOOK OUT!
So much of the art de vivre culture of South West France is about enjoying good food and good wine. Not only have some of the biggest names in the "chef dom" added Bordeaux and its surrounding region to their always lengthening lists of restaurants, hot new chefs are continually emerging.
For foodies (and wine lovers of course), we can suggest a range of fantastic eateries from local savoury places to Michelin-star restaurants, all which will appeal to your inner chef and gourmet.
A DREAM DAY TO REMEMBER
Chill at Cap Ferret conspicuously named 'the French Hamptons', admire the 'Nouvelle Epoque' arts & crafts in Arcachon, climb Europe’s tallest sand dune 'La Dune de Pilat', enjoy a good bottle of wine while being 'chauffeured' on a traditional boat on a picturesque tranquil bay, savour fresh picked oysters in a charming oyster harvesting village named after the grass ' L'Herbe.
Think off all that within some 90 minutes drive. A dream day waiting for you to discover & love.
